DEVOTION ~ THE LORD'S PRESENCE
Theme: The Lord's Presence
Text: Genesis 3:6-8
6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. 7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings. 8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.
Having studied how cunningly the devil and his agents can mislead us yesterday, we will be looking at how Eve was misled and how she also influenced Adam into taking the forbidden fruit causing them to flee the presence of God. The woman did not see how pleasant the fruit was by visual perspective but rather what she heard. Be mindful who you listen to for the words of the cunning is sugar quoted. What you constantly listen to has high rate of influencing your decision making as it plays consciously and unconsciously when you are idle.
The misled, does not go down alone, he/she finds other companions to go down with, having the intent of making life better for them. That was the case of Eve, she took the fruit and ate it, she did not really fall dead so she was able to convince Adam to eat of the forbidden fruit. He who knows the truth but fails to adhere to it is counted as sin unto him. Adam knew the command better than Eve so it was until Adam ate of the fruit their eyes were opened. There's always a spiritual nudging and awakening when we fall to sin empowered by the Holy Spirit in us. What we should do is to seek forgiveness than flee God's presence.
Adam and his wife quickly sewn fig leaves to cover their nakedness. The knowledge they so desire to acquire was nothing but a shallow one. The fig leaves cannot keep them warm in the cold. Sin makes us naked and puts fear in us. Evil made Adam and Eve flee the presence of God when He was not even chasing them. Darkness can by no means withstand light for it diminishes or vanishes by the presence of light. The ever presence of God is always with us for not heights, depths, principalities, darkness, sin nor anything present or to come can separate us from the love of God.
Prayer: Dear God, I've sought after secular wisdom and it has led me often times far from Your presence. Forgive me and grant me the grace of enlightenment that I may behold Your glory and testify of Your mercies among the brethren. Come Holy Spirit of the Living God and make Your home in me. This I pray in Jesus' name. AMEN!
God bless you. God grant as grace of enlargement
