DEVOTION ~ SERVE WELL

Theme: Serve Well

Text: 1 Timothy 6:1&2

6 Let as many bondservants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honor, so that the name of God and His doctrine may not be blasphemed. 2 And those who have believing masters, let them not despise them because they are brethren, but rather serve them because those who are benefited are believers and beloved. Teach and exhort these things.

In one way or the other, almost everyone has a leader or a master in his/her life. Servants or maids do have masters and we in the Lord have Jesus as our Master. It is important to honour these masters by serving well to bring out glory to the name of God and His doctrine. As a Christian, you need to honour Jesus in deeds and in words. Irrespective of the nature of the master you serve (whether kind or mean), do well to honour him/her for your services are to the Lord. 

Just as we honour the Lord, it is expected of us to also respect leadership of our families, churches, communities, workplaces, amongst others. We must understand what we have been called to do; if we have been called into the security service, health service, education service, judicial service or any other service, we ought to serve well. The code of ethics must be a guide so as not to go contrary to the service. If conditions of service is not pleasing, channel all grievances to the rightful authorities peacefully not violently. You are charged to serve well and also teach and exhort others to do same. 

Prayer: Father in heaven, teach us to render our services well to Your glory. Guide us by the Holy Spirit not to blasphemed Your name and doctrine by any action that we take as we serve. This we ask in Jesus' name. AMEN!
