DEVOTION ~ THE TRUE TEMPLE
Theme: The True Temple
Text: John 2:19-22
19 Jesus answered and said to them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” 21 But He was speaking of the temple of His body. 22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
In yesterday's devotion, we looked at how our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit and so must not be used for merchandise of evil works. In today's devotion, we will be looking at the true temple as we continue with Jesus' mission in the Jerusalem temple. The carnal mind gets confused and lost when the spiritually minded speaks. The carnal mind has no foresight into the things of the Lord.
Christ called out to His audience (congregants) to pull down every form of ungodliness in them to receive holiness and glory but they mistaken it for the physical temple. Jesus borne our sins on the cross, suffered demolition through death and was raised to life on the third day. This is not physical works though it manifested in the physical for the ordinary eyes to see. Dear beloved in the Lord, if we are called as the temple of the Holy Spirit, it is because, we have availed ourselves for the spiritual demolition to work in us and being raised to life in Christ Jesus. The true temple is spirit filled and the works in it are pure holy worship and fervent prayer. Be that temple.
Prayer: I come to You O God seeking that my temple be cleared and made spiritually tidy. Come Holy Spirit fill my temple with Your presence and manifest in all that I do that the glory of God shall be revealed. Thank You Jesus for making my temple a blessed place for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, in Your name have I prayed. AMEN!
Amen!
