DEVOTION ~ THE DAY OF THE LORD

Theme: The Day of the Lord
Text: Amos 5:18-20

18 Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be darkness, and not light. 19 It will be as though a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him! Or as though he went into the house, leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him! 20 Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark, with no brightness in it?

The Day of the Lord is a time of reckon, where each one of us will give account of what he/she has done with his/her life. It will be an unpleasant day to those who failed to heed the command of the Lord especially those who know not the Christ. Whereas to those who believe, it will be a moment of joy and relief from the troubles of this age. At any time we lift our voices to say, "MARANATHA! (Let the Lord come quickly)" we need to reevaluate our relationship with God. Are we still in the fellowship with Him or we have taken to pleasing our lustful desires? When the Lord comes, He will judge every deed whether good or bad and even things done in secret.

There will be no way of escape neither can there be any means of corruption.  It will be darkness, and not light to the sons of disobedience. Dear beloved in the Lord, we are reminded that, there's a judgment that awaits us, it can come at any time so let us be on guard least we are taken unaware. If we say we are children of Light, let us live in the Light that darkness will have no power over us. Let us go out to bring Light where there is darkness.

Prayer: Dear God! Search me, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. AMEN!
