DEVOTION ~ LAMENTATION
Theme: Lamentation
Text: Amos 5:1-3
5 Hear this word which I take up against you, a lamentation, O house of Israel: 2 The virgin of Israel has fallen; She will rise no more. She lies forsaken on her land; There is no one to raise her up. 3 For thus says the Lord God: “The city that goes out by a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which goes out by a hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.”
A call is placed on us to reevaluate our ways with the Lord. We need to lament over our waywardnes. Like the fallen virgin, sin takes away our honour and dignity but if we become penitent, God hears our prayer of confessions and forgives us. However if we continue in sin, we will never rise to attain our glory in Christ Jesus. Our souls will be desolate and become a ground for wicked and evil spirits to manipulate. By our own strength, we cannot redeem ourselves, it's solely in Jesus we can be redeemed.
When we fail to return to the Lord, we become spiritually malnourished and our strength fails us; “The city that goes out by a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which goes out by a hundred shall have ten left to the house of Israel.” Unconfessed sin must never be mentioned amongst us and we ought to always desire as well as walk in the Light of God's Word. Let us lament over our sins that we may be strengthen to conquer. We are more than conquerors only in Jesus not by ourselves.
Prayer: To You Lord do we come in our emptiness seeking mercy. You have been faithful to us but we have never been faithful to You. Fears, doubts and unbelieve continually bring us to the place of sin where our garment of glory is being exchanged for deceit and unworthy items. Lord, hear our cry and redeem us. Wash us by the Blood of the Lamb and strengthen our faith by the fellowship of the Holy Spirit. This we pray in name of Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN!
Amen!
