DEVOTION ~ THE HOLY SPIRIT

Theme: The Holy Spirit 
Text: John 16:8-11

8 And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 of sin, because they do not believe in Me; 10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; 11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.



Our Lord Jesus Christ promised His disciples in His absence, He will send the Holy Spirit. He is to do three main things; to convict the world of sin, righteousness and judgment. These three things are the key duties of the Holy Spirit in the world. When the Holy Spirit convicts, He brings to light or expose the weaknesses and folly of the world. 

He brings to light or exposes the sin of the world. The sin of not believing Christ and the message He preached. The carnal mind can never expose the wrongs of the world for these deeds are acceptable in it. However, the Light of the Holy Spirit, exposes such ills of society and the need to repent. It is only the Holy Spirit that can make you conscious of the sins around you. 

No one can enter into the Kingdom of God unless as a righteous person. Jesus is without sin and gave his life as ransom for the world. So when He was raised to life after death, His righteousness, ushered Him to the Father and His disciples saw Him no more. We need the righteousness of Christ to enter into the Father's Kingdom and it is solely the Holy Spirit that can help us in our weaknesses.

There's a judgment awaiting us so we need to live righteously that we might not incur the wrath of God. God is a Righteous Judge. He will judge the world just as the accuser of the brethren has been judged and condemned. You still have chance to believe in Jesus and lay hold of His righteousness so you will escape the fury of the judgment day. Avail yourself to the Holy Spirit and He will lead you on the right path.



Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, I pray the Holy Spirit to give me a nudge when I am swaying from the truth of Your Word. Come Holy Spirit and make Your home with me. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
