DEVOTION ~ A LITTLE WHILE

Theme: A Little While 
Text: John 16:16-18

16 “A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me, because I go to the Father.” 17 Then some of His disciples said among themselves, “What is this that He says to us, ‘A little while, and you will not see Me; and again a little while, and you will see Me’; and, ‘because I go to the Father’?” 18 They said therefore, “What is this that He says, ‘A little while’? We do not know what He is saying.”


Jesus speaks proverbially about His death and resurrection with the expression "A little while". Yes indeed for a while the Lord was taken away from the disciples but after three days He was raised to life by the power of God. The disciples never got the clue of what He was telling them so they raised a discussion among themselves concerning the expression. 

Dear beloved in the Lord, this expression is equally important in our lives as believers for our stay on this earth no matter the age we will attain before we die, is but a while. Likewise are those who have already fallen asleep in the Lord, they will only sleep a little while before the Day of the Lord (Judgment Day) comes. How well are you making use of your "a little while" existence on this earth? Can the Lord find you worthy of His glory? What's your relationship with others like? Reflect on these words and avail yourself for the Holy Spirit to transform you to a better person in the Lord.


Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, take hold of my hands and lead me as a pilgrim of this earth. Help me to number my days that I may apply wisdom in how I live with others. Transform my heart, will and desires to conform to the nature of Christ. This I pray. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
