DEVOTION ~ PLAIN LANGUAGE NOT FIGURATIVE

Theme: Plain Language Not Figurative
Text: John 16:25-28

25 “These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father. 26 In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; 27 for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God. 28 I came forth from the Father and have come into the world. Again, I leave the world and go to the Father.”

In previous devotions we saw how Christ spoke figuratively to the disciples of He being with them a while and the call to His disciples to ask anything in His name and it shall be granted. In today's devotion, we look at understanding the language of the Lord: will it be figurative or plain to the believer. The scripture is spirit filled and the carnal mind cannot give explanation to divine wisdom unless aided by the Spirit of the Living God.

By the presence of the Holy Spirit, we get direct communication from the Father. The language is clear and plain to anyone who avails himself/herself. In the verse thirteen of this very chapter, He tells us how the Holy Spirit will take His message to us as it has been spoken. The Holy Spirit becomes the teacher that teaches us by our level of understanding that we may be guided to carefully do the Father's will. If we obey the Father, it means we love Him and His love for us will bring to fruition our desires. Christ is seated in heavenly places awaiting us to join Him someday. Let us heed His Word.

Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, grant unto me an understanding ear and a fervent heart of medication to understand and meditate upon Your Word in all that I do. Your will be done in my life. AMEN!
