Theme: The Rib of a Man
Text: Genesis 2:21&22

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in its place. 22 Then the rib which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man.


In yesterday's devotion, we saw how man had a beautiful task of naming all the things God created however he had no companion of his kind. To make a suitable companion for man, God put man to sleep and took of his rib and close it up with flesh. Dear beloved in the Lord, whatever God has entrusted to you He will use to do might things in your life. He used the rib of Adam to create his companion.

Husbands must learn that, God used the rib of Adam to communicate the essence of loving and protecting their wives. It also brings to light woman is a companion not a slave to man. The deep sleep of Adam indicates he was not present when Eve was being created. This relates to the upbringing of every woman; the home a woman comes from determines the nurturing she receives. She cannot be another person, so appreciate your wife, and help her to bring out the best in her. 


Prayer: Dear God, in Your infinite wisdom You created woman out of man. Glory be to Your Name. Teach us to reflect on the creation story to shape our homes to what You originally intended it to be. This we pray in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
