DEVOTION ~ BORROWED VESSELS
Theme: Borrowed Vessels
Text: 2 Kings 4:3&4
3 Then he said, “Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors—empty vessels; do not gather just a few. 4 And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones.”
In yesterday's devotion we looked at the theme, "What do you have?" we learned that God uses the ordinary things we have to perform the extraordinary in our lives. The widow said she has nothing except a jar of oil. We will continue today to find out what happened. The prophet Elisha instructed her to borrow more vessels from her neighbors. For us to advance forward, we will also require help from people God has strategically positioned in our lives. We could require vessels such as financial support, counsel, insight, and support of diverse kinds from these individuals.
The prophet Elisha required of her to shut the door behind herself and sons; then pour the oil into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones. Dear beloved in the Lord, the implementation of your strategy should be behind closed door except for those you'll work collaborately with. Though you took vessels (as explained above) from them, they have no business in what you do with it. You need God's intervention now to make your toils successful. Learn to know the limit you give to everyone in your life; the limit to your conversation with your friends, family and others about your business ideas, marital issues, and other issues of life.
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus Christ, thank You for positioning the right people in my way to help me out in time of need. Lord please help me to know when to shut the doors and look up to You for Your extraordinary performance in my life. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
