DEVOTION ~ IT IS WELL

Theme: It is Well
Text: 2 Kings 2:21-23

21 And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out. 22 Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back.” 23 So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “It is well.”

In yesterday's devotion we saw how the Shunammite woman's sick son sat on her knees and died by noon. She did an excellent thing afterwards which we will look at today. When her child died, she did not even mention it to her husband but laid him on the every bed of the man of God. As we stated yesterday, you don't need the presence of the wailers in your predicament. They'll only compound your sorrows with their piercing deceitful tongues of comforting you. The Shunammite woman knows the God that made the impossible possible is the only God that can intervene. Lay your challenges before God not men.

She laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out. You need to be silent by shutting the door to your situation when you lay it before God. Then she called to her husband, and said, “Please send me one of the young men and one of the donkeys, that I may run to the man of God and come back.” The husband knowing her visit was unusual questioned why? It is not enough to just lay the burden before God, You need to draw nearer to God both physically and spiritually. By drawing nearer activate faith and speak positively to the burden that "It is well".

Prayer: Dear God, when peace like a river attendeth my way. When sorrows like sea billows roll. Whatever my lot, Spirit of the Living God, teach me to faithfully say; It is well, it is well with my soul. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
