DEVOTION ~ MEDITATE!
Theme: Meditate!
Text: Philippians 4:8&9
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. 9 The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.
Maturity comes by reflecting on issues and giving it a better approach. The best means of reflecting is meditation. To meditate means to plan mentally or consider (ponder over) things by means of focusing in silence. To the Christian, we ought to meditate on God's Word. The Apostle Paul admonished we ponder over things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and things of good report. We ought to meditate on these things because;
* True: The truth is but one and cannot be altered. Jesus is Lord and it is true He came to die for us so we ought to meditate on the essence of the Holy One dying for the unrighteous.
* Noble: It is written by virtue of Christ we are no more slaves but royal priesthoods making us nobles. We need to reflect on nobility that we can be noble in all our ways.
* Just: We have been justified by the righteousness of Christ therefore are required to live justly by doing away with any form of corruption.
* Pure: The God who has called us is pure and holy. We need to present our bodies as living sacrifices pure and blameless before the Lord.
* Love: God is love and anyone who loves is of God so we need to meditate on love and all that it is characterized by.
* Good Report: The good report is the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We need to meditate on the Gospel that we can share its importance with those in darkness that we may bring light where there's darkness.
How well are you meditating? You can only meditate effectively by the biblical things you've learned, received, heard and saw about Christ and His apostles. Then, the God of peace will be with you.
Prayer: Thank You Lord, for constantly speaking to me through Your Word to live up to Your standards and not of the world. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to meditate on things that are true, noble, just, pure, love, and of good report. Come O Lord into my life and let Your peace abide with me. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
