DEVOTION ~ FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT
Theme: Filled with the Holy Spirit
Text: Luke 4:1&2
4 Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.
The Holy Spirit is our Advocate, Comforter, Helper, Guide, Teacher and everything to us Christians. We are empty without the infill of the Holy Spirit. For He is our fuel as pilgrims of this earth. When the Holy Spirit fills us, we are not led to a place of comfort but a ground where we are tried and proved through various tests to affirm the power of His glory. This was what Jesus encountered after His baptism in the Jordan River.
He was filled with the Holy Spirit and led to the wilderness to be tempted for forty days and nights by the devil. Our wilderness can be the woes of our homes, workplaces, ministry, health, finances and any other aspect of our lives. We are required to fast and pray so as to remain empowered by the Holy Spirit. In as much as we are humans, our mortal bodies will surely show signs of weaknesses just like Jesus who became hungry. In all these, let us learn to prevail over the flesh through the Word of God.
Prayer: Thank You Lord for the gift of the Holy Spirit. We pray He fills us and empower us to do more for the Kingdom advancement in all areas of our lives in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
Amen
