DEVOTION ~ GET BEHIND ME SATAN!

Theme: Get Behind Me Satan!
Text: Luke 4:5-8

5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.”  And Jesus answered and said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’

When the devil wants to challenge our sonship, he is quick to make reference of who we claim we are but in moments of deceiving us, he will never attempt to draw our attention to who really we are. That's exactly what he did to Jesus. Unlike yesterday's text where the devil said, if you are the Son of God, he rather made reference to himself. He showed Jesus the world's beauty at  a glance. Knowing perfectly if he does not take it off fast, the Word will recount to him I was in the beginning and all things were made through Me and for Me (Jesus).

The deceit of the devil is if only he will be worshipped, he will give the authority of the world and its glory to his worshipper. That's a big lie. I love the response Jesus gave to him, "Get behind Me, Satan!" As believers, we need to often put Satan where he belongs (out of my way Satan). Then scripture must be supported with our actions, so the Lord continued, "For it is written, you shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve". Dear beloved in the Lord, our worship should be directed solely to Jehovah God not our riches, strength, spouses, children, or even the devil. Be quick to rebuke the devil and his agents around your life with the Lord's Word, "Get behind me Satan!"

Prayer: Thank You Lord for the power of Your Word that equips us to silence the devil. Spirit of the Living God, stir in us the heart of a true worshipper that we may faithfully and diligently serve the Lord God Almighty all the days of our lives. In the name of Jesus Christ have we prayed
