DEVOTION ~ JESUS' CUSTOM
Theme: Jesus' Custom
Text: Luke 4:16&17a
16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah.
Our practices become what we are accustomed to. Just like our Saviour, we ought to keep our steps towards the house of God irrespective of where we find ourselves. We must never forsake the gathering of the brethren. Jesus was known for entering the synagogue every Sabbath and performs the task of reading the scripture. We must also do well to perform a task in the house of the Lord; whether to sweep, dust the pews, read the scripture, be a liturgist or a preacher, amongst others. Performing a task in the house of the Lord stirs in us the joy to serve the Lord better. The next time you enter the house of the Lord, try to engage yourself in an activity before you leave there.
Prayer: Thank You God for the grace of Your glory that permits me to come before Your presence with all boldness. Help me by the power of the Holy Spirit to perform a task cheerfully anytime I come before Your presence to the glory of Your Name. This I pray in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
