DEVOTION ~ LIVE BY EVERY WORD OF GOD

Theme: Live by Every Word of God
Text: Luke 4:3&4

3 And the devil said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 But Jesus answered him, saying, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”

In yesterday's devotion we saw how the enemy attacks us when filled with the Holy Spirit. We continue today to look at what the devil did upon noticing Jesus was hungry. He came to challenge Jesus to make food for Himself by commanding the stones to become bread to remind Him of the manna that rained down in the wilderness for the children of Israel. It is not the bread he was concerned about, but to challenge the Sonship of Jesus Christ. Beware of unfriendly friends that come to suggest what you ought to do in a situation.

Jesus was qucik to respond to him by making reference to Deuteronomy 8:3 ~ So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord. Our existence is not dependent on food but by the Word of God. It is what the Lord has spoken that is established so we ought to meditate on His Word and apply the Word in all we say or do. Dear beloved in the Lord, live by every Word of God.

Prayer: Thank You Lord for Your Word that does not return to You void. Help me to know food is not a good reason for my existence but Your Word is. Come Holy Spirit take control over my life that I may live by every Word of God. In the name of Jesus Christ have I asked. AMEN!
