DEVOTION ~ ABOUNDING IN MERCY
Theme: Abounding in Mercy
Text: Psalm 103:6-8
6 The Lord executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. 7 He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.
8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
Today is Easter Monday usually known amongst Christians to be a picnic. What's the cause of the celebration and joy among both Christians and non-Christians? The joy is all about the abounding mercies of God. Just like the psalmist, we need to continually declare that the Lord is merciful and gracious to all who come to Him in penitence. The Lord executes righteousness in His children. It is for that matter we attain divine righteousness not of works lest any should boast but of Christ who laid His life for all of us to be saved.
The Lord also executes justice for all who are oppressed. In His justice, He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel in the land of Egypt when He led them out of the tyrannical rule of Pharoah. God's Hands are stretched out to save anyone who calls to Him for help. He is slow to anger and so can forgive our sins when we confess them but we must not abuse the mercies of God by continuously sinning with the intention God is merciful.
Prayer: Thank You Lord for being merciful to the human race through Christ Jesus. I commit my ways to You and I ask You to lead me in the truth of Your Word. Make me have Your nature of righteousness, justness, and compassion that I make love my neighbour as Christ loves me. AMEN!
