DEVOTION ~ A FORTIFIED CITY

Theme: A Fortified City
Text: Jeremiah 1:18&19

18 For behold, I have made you this day a fortified city and an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land -Against the kings of Judah, against its princes, against its priests, and against the people of the land. 19 They will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you. For I am with you,” says the Lord, “to deliver you.”



When we trust in the Lord to deliver us, He fortifies us making us hundred per cent secure. The Lord knows the opposition the prophet Jeremiah will encounter it is for that reason He assured him of making him a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land. All these elements are not easily broken into. That's to say the prophet, Jeremiah cannot be easily manipulated or defeated.

 Likewise, will the Lord make anyone who relies on Him faithfully. The enemy cannot defeat you in anything you do for God shall deliver you from the evil schemes of the devil and the wicked. The assurance is that they will fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you for the Lord God is with you to deliver you. Do not be afraid of the opposition of kings, princes, priests, friends, neighbours, and other people in your life if you know you're faithfully walking in the truth of the Lord.


Prayer: Thank You, God, for the assurance of making me a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land. Come Holy Spirit and guide my steps least I fall short of God's glory. Empower me to remain resolute in the truth and to withstand any form of opposition that may come my way even as I serve the Lord diligently. This I ask in the name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
