DEVOTION ~ THE GATE OF JERUSALEM

Theme: The Gates of Jerusalem 
Text: Jeremiah 1:14&15

14 Then the Lord said to me: “Out of the north calamity shall break forth on all the inhabitants of the land. 15 For behold, I am calling all the families of the kingdoms of the north,” says the Lord; “They shall come and each one set his throne at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem, against all its walls all around, and against all the cities of Judah.


As we established yesterday, God reveals to redeem. His revelation can either be directly or figuratively and it will take the grace and power of the Holy Spirit to understand what the Lord reveals. The boiling pot facing the north in yesterday's devotion is explain to represent the northern kingdoms that will bring calamities at the gate of Jerusalem.

When we fail to adhere to the dictates of the Lord, He can punish us using our enemies. The gate of Jerusalem can be express as our jobs, marriages, finances, health, academics, relationships amongst others. It is the Lord that blesses all these areas of our lives and He can as well withdraw them. When His blessings are withdrawn, calamities befall us in these areas of our lives. Guard your gate of Jerusalem by adhering to the voice of God.


Prayer: Be merciful to me Most gracious God and hear my plea for forgiveness. Do not draw me away from You for in Your absence, my enemies will make sports of me. I seek Your forgiveness and reconciliation through the Blood of Jesus. Protect my life and all that's in my gate from the wicked. Come Holy Spirit and make Your home in my heart, mind and spirit in the name of Jesus Christ have I asked. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
