DEVOTION ~ GOD'S VAST MERCY & FORGIVENESS
Theme: God's Vast Mercy and Forgiveness
Text: Psalm 103:11&12
11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
In yesterday's devotion, we saw how God pardons our sins and does not punish us according to the sins we have committed. Today's text gives insight into how vast God's mercy and forgiveness are towards us. The psalmist says as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him. It implies the mercy of the Lord is with the peninent. To fear the Lord is to be obedient to His Word. A godly fear leads to divine mercy.
God does not just have mercy on us but also forgives our sins, not some but all kinds of sins if we confess them to Him. I wonder how we can measure from the east to the west looking at how the psalmist puts it; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us. This means the slate of our sins gave been wiped clean with the blood of Jesus. God does not look back at our sins but welcomes the repented heart we have offered on His altar.
PRAYERS: Thank You Lord for Your vast mercies and forgiveness. Help me to appreciate Your mercies and forgiveness that I might not abuse it in the name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!
