CHARACTER STUDY ~ HUSHAI
Hushai the Archite was a faithful companion of King David. He was made a spy when Absalom rebelled against his father and ascended the throne as King. He played this role effectively without leaving traces. He was equally a counsellor and his counsel debunked that of Ahithophel.
* Though it looked as though he betrayed David, he spoke proverbially to Absalom when asked if his allegiance with David has broken. Hushai said to Absalom, “No, but whom the Lord and these people and all the men of Israel choose, his I will be, and with him, I will remain. Indeed the Lord chose David, not Absalom so he was still faithful to David.
* He is a critical thinker to be able to analyse within a short period how to debunk the counsel of Ahithophel.
* He was smart to relay the happenings in the palace to the other spies.
