DEVOTION ~ HOW LONG?

Theme: How Long?
Text: Nehemiah 2:6

Then the king said to me (the queen also sitting beside him), “How long will your journey be? And when will you return?” So it pleased the king to send me; and I set him a time.

In yesterday's devotion, Nehemiah laid his request before the king. In today's text, the king would like to know how long he will be gone. Dear beloved in the Lord, time is precious and so must not be wasted on things that are not worthwhile. Nehemiah was but a servant and he cannot neglect his duties, it was for that reason the king requested to know how long it will take him to return. Nehemiah gave a definite time to return. We ought to learn not to abuse the privileges that come our way. Do not forget it took Nehemiah a whole season after hearing about the devastating nature of the walls of Jerusalem to be granted this permission. Which means he had calculated well what it will take to succeed (Nehemiah 1:1b&2:1). Ask yourself how long will it take to do what you want to do or have already started.

PRAYER: Dear God, help me to make wise use of the time at my disposal. Teach me not to take any opportunity for granted and help me to do what I ought to do each day effectively in the Name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!
