CHARACTER STUDY ~ THE PROPHET HABAKKUK

Habakkuk was a prophet of God in the dispensation the Lord intend to punish His people for idolatry when evil increased greatly in the nation. He was concerned about how evil is prevailing but more worried when the Lord revealed He will use the Babylonian nation to punish His nation.

Lessons from the Prophet Habakkuk;
¶ Be concerned about your environment especially when evil is prevailing. Seek God's face for divine intervention.

¶ Build a mutual relationship with God by having ceaseless fellowship with Him. When Habakkuk questioned God, he faithfully wait for His response. He had a mutual conversation with God which we all ought to emulate.

¶ Know who God is. Habakkuk knew God is Holy so using a godless nation to punish His nation was not pleasant to him. He understands honour will not be given to God but to the idols of the Babylonians. So he questioned God to know if God will let such an evil nation get away without being punished.

¶ Prayer should be directed to worship and honour the Majestic Name of God. His prayer enlightened his readers about the awe nature of God.

¶ Finally, we learned from the Prophet Habakkuk to trust God not only when things are pleasant but in difficulties. So he said; "Though the fig tree may not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labour of the olive may fail, and the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, and there be no herd in the stalls—Yet I will rejoice in the LordI will joy in the God of my salvation".
