DEVOTION ~ LETTERS
Theme: Letters
Text: Nehemiah 2:7&8
7 Furthermore I said to the king, “If it pleases the king, let letters be given to me for the governors of the region beyond the River, that they must permit me to pass through till I come to Judah, 8 and a letter to Asaph the keeper of the king’s forest, that he must give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel which pertains to the temple, for the city wall, and for the house that I will occupy.” And the king granted them to me according to the good hand of my God upon me.
Understanding the need for approval is key to advancing in life. Nehemiah does not want to give chances at all despite the king having granted him permission to go and rebuild the ruined walls of Jerusalem. He requested of the king for letters to be given to governors of the region and Asaph the keeper of the king's forest. Dear beloved in the Lord, we need to be wise like Nehemiah. The letter he took gave him the approval to pass without any form of restraint.
If he had come by mere words that the king has permitted him, it wouldn't have been helpful. The letters carry weight and the king's authority without Nehemiah even speaking. Likewise, to enter the king's forest, Asaph needed to be convinced the king gave the directives for timber to be taken out of the forest. Nehemiah's request was granted according to the good hand of God upon him. That means we need more of God's blessings to carry out every task.
PRAYER: Dear God, I pray Your Good Hand upon every area of my life to turn things around for my good. Help me by the strength of the Holy Spirit to seek the right approval in all that I do so that Your glory may be revealed in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
