DEVOTION ~ YOUR WELL-BEING
Theme: Your Well-Being
Text: Nehemiah 2:9&10
9 Then I went to the governors in the region beyond the River and gave them the king’s letters. Now the king had sent captains of the army and horsemen with me. 10 When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard of it, they were deeply disturbed that a man had come to seek the well-being of the children of Israel.
Nehemiah began his journey in today's text by having the king's letter as a point of reference. The King was kind to him by sending captains of the army and horsemen with him. This royal entourage is sure to give Nehemiah protection from any form of danger. Though Nehemiah had all the support in seeking the well-being of his people, his arrival is not good news to Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite. Likewise, not everyone is concerned about our well-being and that of our families. We need to be mindful of how we easily relay critical family issues to such individuals. May God guide us to know when to be silent in disclosing issues of our family.
PRAYER: Thank You, Lord, for the lessons You made available to us from the lives of the men of old. Expose every Sanballat and Tobiah of our lives and help us to overcome their evil schemes against us. We entrust the well-being of our families, friends, neighbours and our lives to Your care. Keep us, safe Lord. This we pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
