DEVOTION ~ MAY YOU NOT DIE IN SIN

Theme: May You Not Die in Sin
Text: John 8:21&22

21 Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin. Where I go you cannot come.” 22 So the Jews said, “Will He kill Himself, because He says, ‘Where I go you cannot come’?”



Sin came to the world through one man and through One Man, generations after generations have been saved from the grip of sin. In the text for today, Jesus foretold of His death but was not understood by those who were around Him. To them, He intends to commit suicide since they knew well there exists a gap between the living and the dead. But Jesus is rather calling them to repentance. If we fail to allow our hearts to become penitent, we cannot be where Christ is. We cannot also claim to be seeking God and still stir up the passion of this age (the lust of the eye and the flesh) in us. If we persist in sinning then we will die in it but if we repent and seek Christ, we shall be saved. AMEN!


PRAYER: Thank You Lord for making a way to set us free from sin. Help me to resist the edge of sinning and guide me by the Holy Spirit to seek Your Face all the days of my life. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked.
