DEVOTION ~ THE GENEALOGY II

Theme: The genealogy II
Text: Matthew 6:6b-11

David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah. Solomon begot Rehoboam, Rehoboam begot Abijah, and Abijah begot Asa. Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah. Uzziah begot Jotham, Jotham begot Ahaz, and Ahaz begot Hezekiah. 10 Hezekiah begot Manasseh, Manasseh begot Amon, and Amon begot Josiah. 11 Josiah begot Jeconiah and his brothers about the time they were carried away to Babylon.

The second set of the genealogy of Jesus Christ comprises royals. The dynasty started with King David and it displayed how venerable the chosen race was. Its early imperfections were evident in David taking Uriah's wife and killing him in battle. Yet God chose the son of Bathsheba over the other sons. This set of genealogies is a mixture of both good and evil kings. Some feared the Lord whereas others defy the orders of the Lord. Out of their evil deeds, they went into exile. It also ended the royal opportunity of the lineage of David but it was restored when Jesus Christ was born.

PRAYER: Father, has mercy on us and wipe out every generational sin and curse that has entangled our family. May we have Your peace and love as a family in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
