CHARACTER STUDY ~ LEVI

Levi is the third son of Jacob by Leah. She named him Levi because she said, "Now this time will my husband be joined unto me because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi". He aided Simeon to kill the Hivites to avenge the evil done to their sister Dinah.

Characteristics of Levi:
¶ He is the third son of Jacob
¶ His father's blessings over him and Simeon was unpleasant; “Simeon and Levi are brothers; Instruments of cruelty are in their dwelling place. Let not my soul enter their council; Let not my honour be united to their assembly; For in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will, they hamstrung an ox.
Cursed be their anger, for it is fierce; And their wrath, for it, is cruel! I will divide them in Jacob and scatter them in Israel."
¶ His descendants are the Levites of Isreal and amazingly they were scattered among their brethren throughout the promised land. 
¶ His sons are Gershon, Kohath, and Merari
¶ Levi lived a hundred and thirty-seven years and die.

Apollos means "one who destroys or a destroyer". He was a New Testament figure who steadily grew to become a servant of Jesus through ministry. He was a staunch Jew.  Some Characteristics of Apollos: √ Apollos was endowed with great knowledge and was very outspoken. DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
