DEVOTION ~ THE TESTIMONY OF GOD

Theme: The Testimony of God
Text: 1 Corinthians 2:1

And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God.

Preparing to deliver a sermon needs more spiritual preparation than just reading and writing things down. This is because the sermon must reflect what the Spirit wants to communicate to His flock at that very moment. The Apostle Paul did not use excellent speech to persuade new converts or earthly wisdom to justify the essence of accepting the Gospel, rather he employed the power of the Holy Spirit. The testimony of God is best given by the Holy Spirit. The Great Commission is not built on the altar of persuasion but on the true testimony of the Spirit of God. It is for this reason, the Holy Spirit gives the understanding to suit the need of the converts and to guide them to the marvellous Light of God. Yours is to avail not persuade.

PRAYER: Dear God, give me a nudge when I am diverting from Your Testimony. Equip me by the enabling grace of the Holy Spirit to evangelize the Word in truth and not by carnal wisdom. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
