DEVOTION ~ THE AUTHORITY OF GOD
Theme: The Authority of God
Text: John 14:10&11
10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves.
In yesterday's devotion, we learned that the Father is revealed in Christ Jesus. Today's text is an elaboration of the revelation of the Father in Christ. Christ is in the Father and possesses His traits in action and in word. The key indicator is the authority by which Christ performs His tasks. He does not speak of His own authority but that of God. The Father manifests in Christ to speak in parables with the people of His dispensation and as well grant healing, forgiveness, and mercy to as many people as believed. Dear beloved in the Lord, the authority of God Almighty is what enabled Christ to do the things He did here on earth teaching us that, we cannot excel if we depend on our own strength in ministry. We need the backing of the Father to be equipped for every good work. Never doubt the endorsement or efficacy of the authority of God to function well rather believe for the works Christ did here on earth are more than enough to reorient our thoughts on how potent the authority of God is.
PRAYER: Dear God Your authority supersedes any other in the heavens, earth, and the seas. Lord, we pray for the ever presence of Your authority in our homes, churches, workplaces, communities, and in all our gatherings that our labour shall not be in vain but rather produce an abundance of the harvest to Your glory in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
