DEVOTION ~ CALLED INTO THE SERVICE

Theme: Called into the Service

Text: Numbers 4:1-3

4 Then the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying: 2 “Take a census of the sons of Kohath from among the children of Levi, by their families, by their fathers’ house, 3 from thirty years old and above, even to fifty years old, all who enter the service to do the work in the tabernacle of meeting.


 For the days ahead, we will be looking at the responsibilities assigned to the respective Levites in the tabernacle of meeting. We shall relate it to our dispensation and understand what we can do in the fulfillment of the Great Commission. The text for today stated the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron to take a census of the sons of Levi (specifically the Kohathites) from age thirty even to fifty.

Unlike the Israelites to whom the priestly duties have been specifically assigned to the Levites, we have been called into the fellowship of the Holy Spirit to go and make disciples of all nations. We need to identify spiritually matured Christians to take up positions in the service to diligently carry out their duties well. God does not just invite a census on the Kohathites but gave age range because maturity is required to perform the given task with understanding and diligence.


PRAYER: Dear God, give us a deeper understanding of the duties You have entrusted to us in Your Vineyard so that we can enthusiastically serve well and guide us in assigning responsibilities and elections or appointment of leaders in the church that we will do Your will in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked.
