THE SPIRITUAL SERVICE I

Theme: The Spiritual Service I

Text: Numbers 4:7-10

7 “On the table of showbread they shall spread a blue cloth, and put on it the dishes, the pans, the bowls, and the pitchers for pouring; and the showbread shall be on it. 8 They shall spread over them a scarlet cloth, and cover the same with a covering of badger skins; and they shall insert its poles. 9 And they shall take a blue cloth and cover the lampstand of the light, with its lamps, its wick-trimmers, its trays, and all its oil vessels, with which they service it. 10 Then they shall put it with all its utensils in a covering of badger skins, and put it on a carrying beam.

In yesterday's devotion, we learned about spiritual covering and how we ought to present ourselves as Christians. Today's text will be enlightening us on spiritual adornment for service. Our spiritual adornment has royal significance and a full display of the Holy Spirit and the Blood of Covenant (the Lamb of God's Blood). Our showbread in this dispensation is the Holy Spirit who is ever present in every gathering of the children of God; for where two or three are gathered in His Name the Holy Spirit is present. The dishes, pans, bowls, pitchers, lampstands, wick-trimmers, trays, and all its oil vessels represent the services we offer to God.

In this service, we need to display less of ourselves and more of the Holy Spirit. The atoning Blood of Christ spreads over everything we do and speaks good tidings over our lives. Our service should not be gymnastics or show-off rather it must be characterized by the presence of God and His Word shall be a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path (Psalm 119:105). If we are carried or inspired by the Holy Spirit we shall not deviate in the course of our duties and whatever He reveals shall manifest accordingly.

PRAYER: Abba! Father, thank You for instituting a great and marvelous service long ago before we even enjoyed Your divine grace. Help us to avail ourselves under the authority of the Holy Spirit that we may be equipped by Him to do great works to Your glory in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
