CHARACTER STUDY ~ HEROD ANTIPAS
Our character for study today is Herod Antipas. He mistook Jesus Christ for John the Baptist whom he killed. He was an adulterous man who took his brother's wife.
Some Characteristics of Herod Antipas
He was a man of authority who allow lustful desires to lure him into adultery. We need to understand if we fail to work on our character, we will only abuse the positions we occupy to get things done our way.
He had John the Baptist put in prison to please Herodias. We must learn not to allow the dictates of sin to entice us to compromise the truth and pure way of life.
He desires to listen to John the Baptist but failed to repent. Enjoying the Word of God is not enough, we need to take practical steps to penitence. The Word of God must renew and transform us to become better people in society.
He was under oath to give anything to Herodias daughter after her dance performance. We must learn to be careful with our words when it comes to giving promises or assurance to people. Ensure you apply terms and conditions so as not to compromise your faith.
