DEVOTION ~ THE GIFT OF PEACE

Theme: The Gift of Peace
Text: John 14:25-28

25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because I  said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.

Peace means tranquillity or freedom from disturbance of any kind. The world is continually becoming unsafe because peace is not guaranteed fully. We hear of a military coup, climate change, and pandemics, amongst others all around us. These challenges impede our peace and deny us freedom from disturbances. However,  Christ is offering us His kind of peace not as the world offers. The peace of the world is full of lip services and often leads to disappointments. The peace of Christ settles us down in calmness - emotionally, psychologically, spiritually, and in all circumstances of life.

Dear beloved in the Lord, having the peace of Christ whether you are rich or poor, and in good health or sickness, you experience divine calmness devoid of anxiety, worry, or an unrest mind. This is because His Holy Spirit guides your heart and thoughts not to think evil but to hope in the Lord. Therefore, you will not be troubled by the issues of life surrounding you. You will be filled with unspeakable joy at all times and you will move by faith, not by sight. You will experience the great and mighty works of God.

PRAYER: Thank You Jesus for the peace You have given us. May we never allow the negative thoughts of life to shake our faith but rather rejoice in Your Word and be filled with the Holy Spirit. We pray for peace in our homes, finances, health, career, businesses, projects, nations, and in all spheres of our lives in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
