DEVOTION ~ NOTHING IN ME

Theme: Nothing in Me
Text: John 14:29-31

29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here.

Christ has been in an intensive conversation with His disciples in the past few days of our devotion. He brings the curtain to an end on His conversation with His disciples and gave them assurance, that the purpose of what He is telling them is to stir up their faith to believe when they see the manifestation of the things He has assured them will take place. However, His concluding information makes reference to the ruler of the earth. The ruler of this earth is the devil (Lucifer). In the text of our consideration, we are going to look at what Christ meant by the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.

The devil has no place in Christ for he is an antagonist to the Kingdom of God. The devil is full of deceit, pride, and destruction, and walks in darkness to shield his evil deeds (Isaiah 14:12-21). Christ has nothing to do with the works of darkness for He is the true Light from the Father and has no deceit in Him. While the devil intends to steal, kill and destroy, Christ brings life in its fullness to anyone who believes (John 10:10). Dear beloved in the Lord, what is your place in the Lord? Does the Lord have anything to do with you and what of the reverse? If your deeds contradict the Lord's way and will, then you are on the path of the evil one. Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God (2 Corinthians 6:14-18).

PRAYER: Dear God, it is written in Your Word what is joined to Christ cannot be joined to the harlot (the devil and his agents) - 1 Corinthians 6:15-19. Deliver me from ways that displease You so that I may sincerely serve You in truth. Please I surrender to Your authority and seek that You have a lasting relationship with me even now and forevermore in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
