DEVOTION ~ THE REPORT

 Theme: The Report

Text: Matthew 14:1&2

14 At that time Herod the Tetrarch heard the report about Jesus 2 and said to his servants, “This is John the Baptist; he is risen from the dead, and therefore these powers are at work in him.” 


In a dispensation where we turn to run to people's social handles to get information about them, it is sometimes misleading if the individual fails to provide the right information on the social media handles. However, the report Herod the Tetrarch received about Jesus is a true picture of what Christ was doing in the lives of people. Dear beloved in the Lord, what report do people give about us? Will it please the Lord that such reports - malice, unforgiveness, sowing seed of discord, envy, and pride amongst others are said about us? We must not give room for the devil to paint an unpleasant picture of us in the mind of people. We must emulate Christ so that accounts given about us by others will display the power of God.   

There are diverse powers in the midst of mankind; powers of good and evil. Herod the Tetrarch understood powers exist it was for that reason he thinks Jesus could be the risen John the Baptist. Dear beloved in the Lord, the power at work in Jesus is from God, and this power He has bestowed on us to bring honour to the Name of God. May the Lord breathe His power on us to diligently do the needful in His Vineyard. 


PRAYER: Not unto us but to You alone Lord God Almighty we give praise and adoration for the great and mighty works of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We pray good reports shall be given concerning us in our marriages, nurturing of children, workplaces, ministry, businesses, and in every sphere of our lives in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

DEVOTION ~ JUDGING RIGHTEOUSLY

Theme: Judging Righteously Text: Genesis 38:26 26 So Judah acknowledged them and said, “She has been more righteous than I because I did not give her to Shelah my son.” And he never knew her again. Previous devotion taught us that Tamar sent the pledge Judah gave her to him to identify the owner. Upon receiving the items Judah acknowledged his wrong. Judah did not allow pride or ego to cloud his judgment but rather pointed to the role he played in leading Tamar to take such a drastic step to get pregnant. Dear beloved in the Lord, don't be quick to point people's wrong without considering yours. Let us learn from Judah to never push blame to others if we are guilty. Let us Pray: Almighty God, forgive me for employing the full rigour of the law on defaulters but failing to in my own case. Grant me sound judgment to act righteously. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
