CHARACTER STUDY ~ RAHAB

The name Rahab means spacious place in Hebrew. Indeed her name had a great impact on her because she got a place with the children of promise (Israel) when the walls of Jericho came down. She was a prostitute but feared God. She is named in the genealogy of Jesus Christ.


Some Characteristics of Rahab:

 √ She is well-informed about her surroundings. If she were to be aloof or unconcerned, she would not have heard much about the God of Israel. We must learn to read and listen to the news and get abreast with happenings in the world.

√ She was wise. She knew what to put her allegiance in when chances were created. She chose to fear God than the king of Jericho. She hid the spies because she feared their God. We should learn to fear God than mortal men for God has the power to destroy both body and spirit. 

√ She understood the essence of the covenant and established it with the spies. She even requested a sure sign from them in order to save her household and she followed the instructions to the latter. Our covenant with God is sealed in Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit. We must value this covenant and not lose it. 

√ She was considered righteous for giving lodging to the spies. Our good deeds will speak volumes than our many words spoken.

√ Rahab married Salmon and begot Boaz. Never give room to your past to intercept the beautiful future God has for your life.

Apollos means "one who destroys or a destroyer". He was a New Testament figure who steadily grew to become a servant of Jesus through ministry. Do you feel you're forgotten, rejected or insecure? Dear beloved in the Lord, you're not forgotten, for God has engraved your name in His palms. Isaiah 49:16 See, "I have engraved you on the Palms of My Hands: Your walls are ever before Me". If God has engraved your name in His palms, it means He always sees or watches over you. Rise up and shake the fear and doubts off.  Declare, "I am not forgotten or alone. The LORD has engraved me in His Palms. Therefore, His eyes are fixed on me, and He protects me from the wicked. I decree all that I have is secured in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

COMMAND YOUR WEEK

What inhibits you determines what comes out of you. The two elements are light and darkness. The light within produces good, whereas darkness is evil. It is recorded in  Ephesians 5:8-9 For once you were full of darkness, but now you have light from the Lord. So live as people of light! For this light within you produces only what is good, right, and true.  Declare, "In the Name of Jesus Christ, I no longer walk in darkness but rather in light. Therefore, every product of darkness within and around me is extinct. I decree that my family and I live in light, and we enjoy what the light produces in fullness. Our deeds are good, right, and true. AMEN!"
