CHARACTER STUDY ~ MARY MAGDALENE

Mary Magdalene was a follower of Jesus Christ and was faithful to the end. An account is given of her that the Lord Jesus cast out seven demons from her and she became His follower wholeheartedly. Although the Bible never mentioned what became of her after the ascension of Jesus her acts before and after the death of Jesus are remarkable.

Some Characteristics of Mary Magdalene:

✔ She was delivered from demonic power by Jesus Christ. We should understand from this that only Jesus can deliver us from the clutches of demons. Just as Mary Magdalene received her liberation, we can also experience the same if we surrender to Jesus Christ.

✔ She did not allow her past to hold her back from following the Lord. She was possessed by demons but immediately after she received her deliverance she put the past behind her to embrace the new life. We must also learn to let go of the past (deeds and attitudes that are ungodly) to embrace the mercy of God.

✔ She did not just follow Jesus during the good moments but also when all the odds were against the Lord. She was with the other women who followed the Lord to Golgotha where Jesus was crucified. We must not just rejoice in the Lord when we are on the mountain but should trust and serve well when in the valley too.

✔ She knew where the Lord's body was buried because she followed every step of the way during the crucifixion and burial of the Lord. We must not just know the Lord based on what people have expressed about Him rather we should also have fellowship with Him and experience Him.

✔ On the third day after the Lord's death, she was among the women who took spices to the graveyard. She brought the news of the Lord's body missing to the disciples.

✔ She saw the resurrected Christ and proclaimed He is risen. She proclaimed, "I have seen the Lord". Have we also seen the Lord? We can only see Him if we surrender completely to Him and seek Him diligently.
