DEVOTION ~ CHAFF DRIVEN BY THE WIND
Theme: Chaff Driven by the Wind
Text: Psalm 1:4
4 The ungodly are not so but are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
In previous devotions, we talked about the righteous or the man who walks according to the precepts, instructions, and teachings of God listing the benefits of being faithful in the Lord. Today's text is about the ungodly. The ungodly is anyone who does not embrace the precepts, instructions, and teachings of God but rather finds pleasure in the counsel of the ungodly, walks with sinners, and takes a seat with the scornful. Such a man is described as chaff driven by the wind. That is to say, he is easily influenced or carried away by every doctrine or falsehood. He has no purpose for life and is spiritually worthless.
Therefore, the ungodly will be condemned in judgment. Unlike the righteous whom the Lord's grace will pardon, the ungodly shall not go unpunished. He will also not have any place with the godly (share in the inheritance of salvation). Dear beloved in the Lord, are you easily carried away by false teaching? Do you find it comfortable with ungodly ways, be warned that your end is destruction or damnation. The time to repent is now so confess your sins to God and ask Him to lead you in the narrow path of life in Christ Jesus.
PRAYER: Father, forgive me for my ungodly ways in my marriage, nurturing of children, ministry, and career, (list your shortcomings), and cleanse me by the precious Blood of Jesus. I break away from the worthless power of ungodliness and embrace the power of salvation in Christ Jesus. Lord have mercy on me and save me in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!
