DEVOTION ~ PARTIALITY CONVICTS
Theme: Partiality Convicts
Text: James 2:9
9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
In previous devotions, we learned that partiality or discrimination against the poor is a sin and God is not pleased with such behaviors. Dear beloved in the Lord, we commit sin if we show partiality against others, are selective in the laws of God, and do not have a balanced life. To show partiality against others is to give preference to some people whereas others are maligned. Being selective in the laws of God implies choosing laws that suit us and rejecting the ones that we feel are not attainable. This means we obey some of the laws and disobey some. Not having a balanced life means not having a good scale for one's life. That is to say, failing to apportion the right time to every sphere of our lives (marriage, family, education, career, finances, etc...). The law convicts us as transgressors if we are partial in life.
PRAYER: Dear Lord, guide my heart and mind to the truth. Teach me to resist every edge to be partial in any area of my life, against others and Your laws. Deliver me from transgressing Your laws in the Name of Jesus Christ have I prayed. AMEN!
