CHARACTER STUDY ~ ASENATH

Asenath is an Egyptian name that means  "gift of the sun god". She was an Egyptian and the daughter of Poti-pherah priest of On.

✔ She was given to Zaphnath-paaneah to marry by Pharoah. Zaphnath-paaneah is the name given to Joseph by Pharoah when he made him prime minister of Egypt. For Pharoah to choose her as a wife for his prime minister means she must be a responsible young lady. It is amazing Joseph never married any other woman besides her. Whether male or female, we need to keep good records so as to be recommended for higher opportunities.

✔ She was the mother of Manasseh and Ephraim the children she bore for Joseph. Her children found their place among the other tribes of Israel. It is likely she surrendered to the worship of Jehovah the God of her husband and guided her children in that path.

✔ Much has not been said about Asenath in the Bible. Unfortunately, her death was not recorded either.

Supporting Scripture: Genesis 41:45;50 & 46:20
