CHARACTER STUDY ~ THE ETHIOPIAN EUNUCH

The Ethiopian Eunuch worked under Candace the Queen of Ethiopians with great authority and was in charge of all her treasury. Despite this great authority, he made time to go to Jerusalem to worship God. The Holy Spirit sent Philip to him to explain the scripture he was reading to him along the road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.

Some Characteristics of the Ethiopian Eunuch:

✔ He devoted himself to the worship of the true God. He went to Jerusalem to worship God and while returning decided to read the scripture. Our worship of God must be characterized by having quiet time with God and/or Bible study.

✔ He did not read the scripture because he understood it but was looking for understanding. If we avail ourselves to know more about God, He will grant us deeper understanding by sending a Philip our way.

✔ He was sincere when asked if he had an understanding of what he was reading. His response was; “How can I, unless someone guides me?” This made Philip throw more light on the scripture to him. We must learn from this to not feel shy to ask for help if we do not know how to do something or have an understanding.

✔ He invited Philip to sit with him. Dear beloved in the Lord, it is time to invite the Lord into your heart if you have not surrendered every area of your life to him.

✔ He asked questions and he received answers. We must also ask questions if we want to know more or gain understanding.

✔ He was ready to be baptized after hearing the message of God. Have you been baptized? What is your relationship with the Lord?

✔ When Philip gave him the condition under which he must be baptized he accepted the offer; Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” Do you also believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

✔ The Ethiopian Eunuch was baptized.
