DEVOTION ~ COMPANIONABLE

Theme: Companionable

Text: Luke 15:1&2

15 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.”

One amazing characteristic of Jesus Christ is His companionable nature. He is open to everyone irrespective of one's background or past. This infuriated the Pharisees and Scribes. Jesus welcomes sinners and eats with them. He did not come to judge the world but to save it through His lovingkindness. Dear beloved in the Lord, we are called to be welcoming towards all without discrimination. The lifestyle of the Pharisees and Scribes can be said to be hypercritical. Their insecurities about Jesus made them find faults in whatever He did. If this lifestyle of the Pharisees and Scribe is at work in you, invite the Holy Spirit to make you more welcoming like Jesus.

PRAYER: Deliver me O Lord from the spirit of hypercriticality and stir in me the receptive spirit of Christ so that I can go to the end of the earth to declare the Lord's message of salvation. This I ask in the Mighty Name of Jesus. AMEN!
