DEVOTION ~ THE FATHER'S LOVE
Theme: The Father's Love
Text: Luke 15:20&21
20 “And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him. 21 And the son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.’
Who can ever be like our God? He is a caring and loving Father who is always on the lookout for the prodigal child's return. While the young man was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, ran to meet him, fell on his neck, and kissed him. That is how God reacts whenever a prodigal child decides to seek His mercy. The decision alone to return is enough to be forgiven. Before the young man could open up about his wrong, the father's gestures were most welcoming. This authenticates what is in 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Yes! God is faithful.
PRAYER: Abba! Father, I have sinned against You and I am not worthy to be called Thy child, but have mercy upon me. Please welcome me to Your presence. Thank You that while I am still a long way off, Your mercy locates me with an embrace. I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
