DEVOTION ~ RAGE AND GRUMBLING
Theme: Rage and Grumbling
Text: Luke 15:28&29
28 “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him. 29 So he answered and said to his father, ‘Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends.
In yesterday's devotion, we learned that the elder son returned from working in the field to meet the feast for the younger brother. His rage kindled and he was not ready to join in the feast simply because his father had never allowed him to make merry with his friends. Most of us Christians are like this gentleman, we often see it as inappropriate for people we assume as not fit to receive the gift of God. Likewise, Jonah was just not ready to go to Nineveh because he knew God is merciful and would forgive when the people repent (Jonah 4:1-3). Every penitent child of God deserves God's mercy so never give room for rage and grumbling when God's love is shown to such people.
PRAYER: Father forgive me for the times I have grumbled over why Your gift has been given to others less deserving. Renew my mind with Your Word and transform me into a better person. Take away from me the spirit of envy, comparison, pride, and anything that discredits Your grace in my life. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
