DEVOTION ~ SAFE AND SOUND
Theme: Safe and Sound
Text: Luke 15:25-27
25 “Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27 And he said to him, ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’
As we learned of the joy of the father of the prodigal son when he returned home, his elder brother, however, was in the field working for their father. He questioned the servants why they were making merry and the response was ‘Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.’ The purpose of the merry is that a prodigal son has returned safe and sound. The Lord is pleased when we return to Him in penitence because the devil our adversary is roaring like a lion seeking to devour us: The devil's aim is to steal, kill, and destroy us through deceit. In yesterday's devotion, we learned that sin puts us to death but when we confess it, God is faithful to forgive us and cleanse us from every unrighteousness. Through confession and repentance, we return safe and sound to God. Your safety is God's concern and He always wishes all goes well with you at all the time.
PRAYER: Thank You Lord that You care so much about my safety. Guide me every step of the way as I pilgrim through this earth so that I may return to You safe and sound. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
