DEVOTION ~ SANCTIFIED
Theme: Sanctified
Text: John 17:17-19
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. 18 As You sent Me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes I sanctify Myself, that they also may be sanctified by the truth.
To be sanctified means to be declared holy or set apart by the efficacy of the Holy Spirit. The sanctification Jesus prayed for His disciples is that of the truth. That the disciples will be made holy by the truth through the Word of God. This is built on the premise that they shall know the truth (which is the Word of God) and the truth shall liberate them from every unrighteousness (John 8:32). A lair cannot be sent out to declare the message of truth, therefore, the Messiah prays that the truth will equip them for the propagation of the Gospel. In His earthly ministry, Christ showed by example how to live or abide by the truth for the sake of His disciples. Dear beloved in the Lord, as a child of God, you have been sanctified by the truth so stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth.
PRAYER: Almighty God, we pray our lives be sanctified by Your Word of truth. Equip us for every good work in the advancement of the Gospel in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
