DEVOTION ~ DINING WITH THE LORD
Theme: Dining With the Lord
Text: Mark 2:15
15 Now it happened, as He was dining in Levi’s house, that many tax collectors and sinners also sat together with Jesus and His disciples; for there were many, and they followed Him.
In yesterday's devotion, we learned that an invitation was thrown to Levi to follow the Messiah. He accepted it and the text for today talks about Jesus dining in Levi's house. Accepting to follow Jesus should not just be lip service but rather it must be demonstrated openly for all to know you have become a follower of Christ. Levi did not hide his decision to follow Jesus and this made his friends and colleagues also encounter Jesus and follow Him. If you open the door to your heart for Jesus to come in, He will enter and dine with you as He did in Levi's house. You cannot follow Jesus secretly, because you need to share with others who He is and the power of His saving grace. Do not dine with the Lord alone, but rather dine with Him inviting your spouse, children, family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and as many souls as you can. To dine with the Lord requires a daily study and meditation on His Word. He speaks to You through the Word and you speak to Him whenever you pray. How prepared are you to dine with the Lord?
PRAYER: Forgive me, Lord, for not being able to invite You to dine with me. Grant me the strength to open the door of my heart to You to come in and dine with me. May I also reach out to all souls to come to dine with You as Levi did. Thank You for transforming me into a better witness of Your saving grace. This I pray in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
