EASTER DECLARATION ~ FORGIVENESS

Theme: Forgiveness

Text: Luke 23:34

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.”

Today marks Palm Sunday leading to Easter. Palm Sunday is Jesus' triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He rode on a colt while people threw clothes and palm branches on the ground for Him to ride on declaring “Hosanna to the Son of David! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Hosanna in the highest!” - Matthew 21:1-11

For this week our focus will be on the final seven words of Jesus Christ on the cross. Each day will present a Word through to Holy Saturday. Today's devotion will focus on the word of forgiveness from Luke 23:34 Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” Forgiveness is essential both spiritually and physically. Before Jesus laid His life for us, an offender needs to approach the priest with his sin offering to be pardoned laying it on the animal as long as he sins. However, Jesus the Lamb of God paid this penalty once and while on the cross at Golgotha, He prayed our sins to be forgiven. He established an eternal reconciliation between the fallen man and the Sovereign God so that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive and cleanse us from every unrighteousness. He also has enlightened us to be compassionate, forgiving, and loving not only in moments when things favor us but amid injustices, we ought to love. Forgiveness restores and builds life, homes, and relationships. Where there is no forgiveness, nothing flourishes. Forgive just as Christ has forgiven you so that your life will flourish and blossom.

Let us Pray: Forgiving Father, have mercy on me and cleanse me from bitterness, anger, malice, strife, revengeful thoughts, immorality, idolatry, willful, presumptuous, and secret sins. Create a forgiving heart in me and let me forgive willfully as Christ has forgiven me. I declare I am a product of forgiveness and I manifest forgiveness in my marriage, family, ministry, workplace, and every sphere of my life therefore I partake of every blessing that comes with forgiveness in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
