EASTER DECLARATION ~ RELATIONSHIP

Theme: Relationship

Text: John 19:26&27

26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.

In yesterday's devotion, we looked at the second word spoken by Jesus on the cross which is concerned with salvation. Today's devotion will look at the third speech which is about relationships. Throughout His suffering, His mother has been in a close walk with Him to the cross. The apostle John was there with Mary the mother of Jesus probably consoling her. Jesus established a relationship when He saw the two right where He was nailed to the cross. He entrusted His mother to the care of John. In Christ, we are one big family therefore, we need to relate well with each other. We should not only address those we relate to by blood as family, but rather anyone who joins the Christendom should be accorded the love or belongingness of family. We must not discriminate against anyone who draws close to the cross of Jesus. Let us welcome them in and encourage them to grow in faith and shine as light to the world. Build your relationship well with your blood relations, friends, neighbors, colleagues, citizens, foreigners, and all you encounter as you proclaim Christ. Show concern by welcoming them wholeheartedly as John took Mary to his home to stay with him. Do you have an established relationship with others in the Lord? What practical steps are you taking to resolve your differences with others? May the Lord grant you the zeal to live peaceably with all.

Let us Pray: Dear God You saw the need for a good relationship between Mary Your earthly mother and John. Help me identify my flaws in relating well with others and equip me to improve upon having a lasting good relationship with all. I declare my spirit and will obey the instruction of the Lord to relate well with everyone in my life. This I ask in the Name of Jesus Christ. AMEN!
